Carolina Village welcomed two local undergraduate student interns this summer. Sarah Smith and George Heck interned in Carolina Village’s health care areas, which include the Village’s Care Center (assisted living) and Medical Center (skilled nursing). The students received hands-on supervised training in their field of study, which included spending time with Village residents and participating in administrative tasks.
“Every day I learned something new that was beneficial for me and my career,” said Smith, a Liberty University senior who will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in Healthcare Administration in December.
Carolina Village has hosted interns for a number of years and works closely with each student to customize an experience that is meaningful to his or her aspirations.
“Over the course of my internship I was given tasks that would benefit my growth as an individual and as a future healthcare administrator,” said Heck, a senior at Appalachian State University who will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in Healthcare Management.
“We are proud to host quality local students as they begin to plan their careers in healthcare,” said Alex Tucker, Healthcare Administrator at Carolina Village. “We recognize the importance of supporting students – especially local students – since they are the future of healthcare. Our goal is to prepare them well for their careers and to give them a meaningful experience.”
